The clinker particles in the kiln are formed under the action of liquid phase (some materials are called melt), and the liquid phase forms a capillary bridge in the crystal shape. The liquid capillary bridge plays two roles: one is to combine the particles together, the other is to act as an intermediate medium to diffuse CaO and C2S into C3S in the melt state. The strength of the particles depends on the strength of the capillary bridge. The strength of the bridge, that is, the force of connecting particles increases with the increase of the surface tension of the liquid phase and the decrease of the particle diameter. Add. The number of capillary bridges is inversely proportional to the square root of particle diameter. In order to get a good granulation, there must be enough liquid phase, and the granules should be evenly distributed in the liquid phase to form a higher surface tension, lower liquid viscosity, suitable granulation time and temperature, etc.

I. Surface Tension of Liquid Phase



The surface tension of liquid phase is an important property of liquid phase, which has a direct relationship with granulation. It is easy to granulate when the surface tension of liquid phase increases. The size of clinker particles has a good linear relationship with the surface tension of liquid phase.



The surface tension of liquid phase is related to the negative electricity of the outer electrons of elements. Some elements such as K, Cl and S have lower surface tension value, which is not conducive to granulation, while Mg and Al have higher surface tension value, which is conducive to granulation.



II. LIQUID PHASE QUANTITY



The liquid content of clinker is too little to granulate, and too much is easy to form dense bulk clinker. The liquid phase content is related to the content of Al2O3, Fe2O3, K2O, Na2O and MgO in the liquid phase. The coefficient of MgO is increased, which indicates that MgO has a great influence on the liquid phase content, which is close to the coefficient of Fe2O3. When the liquid phase content is 25%-28%, it is most advantageous to the granulation.



3. Viscosity of liquid phase



The liquid-phase viscosity of clinkers with different components is different. Generally speaking, the decrease of liquid-phase viscosity is beneficial to the diffusion of CaO and C2S into C3S in liquid phase. It is also easy to granulate. The liquid-phase viscosity is related to temperature and decreases with the increase of temperature.
